Michigan is gunning for its second commitment of the 2027 recruiting class this month when four-star Fort Wayne (Ind.) Northrop edge Ifeanyi Emedobi announces his decision on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET.

The Wolverines yield 16 commits as of right now — 11 of which are four-star prospects — that help rank Michigan 13th overall and fourth in the Big Ten by Rivals. The program also has two other pass rushers committed to the class in four-stars Jayce Brewer and Recarder Kitchen, so could Emedobi be next?

Emedobi’s official visit to Ann Arbor last weekend was his first time on campus, and it occurred a little more than a month following the coaching staff pulling the trigger during the contact period. He actually moved up the trip a week earlier, originally scheduled to come in for Victor’s Weekend.

“They put their best foot forward to recruit me, even though they were late in the game,” Emedobi told Maize n Brew. “They’ve shown me love and kept it real with me.”

Before he saw what Michigan had to offer, Emedobi took official visits to Minnesota and Penn State. Now, things are trending in the right direction for the Wolverines heading into his commitment ceremony thanks in part to defensive ends coach Lewis Powell and assistant defensive line coach David Denham, who are high on Emedobi’s growth potential at the next level.

Emedobi has only one season of organized football under his belt, but scholarship offers started rolling in last November. He’s coming off winning MVP among all defensive lineman attendees at the Under Armour NEXT All-American Camp in Chicago.

“They run multiple defenses, so there are multiple chances to get on the field,” Emedobi said of the Wolverines’ defense. “Multiple chances to make a play. They said my ceiling is high because I just started and that they can put a few pounds on me, so I’m excited to see in a few years wherever I go to.”

At 6-foot-2, 214 pounds, Emedobi is listed as the No. 441 overall prospect and No. 44 edge nationally, per Rivals’ Industry Rankings.
