Welcome to June, where the only things we have to discuss are recruiting drama and legal battles. This week on the recruiting trail was Déjà Vu in all the wrong ways for Penn State, which had a stretch of similar losses in June 2025 when Grayson McKeogh, Joey O’Brien, and Khary Adams all chose Notre Dame.

Regardless, we’ve got a recap of all the good and bad news for the Nittany Lions on the recruiting trail.

Jamir Dean Flips to Georgia

Penn State had Tennessee wideout Jamir Dean locked down for all of a month and a half before he flipped his allegiance to the Georgia Bulldogs. This was, frankly, a big loss for Matt Campbell. Dean was a bit of a hidden gem who’s quickly been trending to four-star status, but the Nittany Lions weren’t able to keep him locked down amid the added notoriety.

Deshawn Hall Trending for Auburn

Four-star wide receiver Deshawn Hall was trending in Penn State’s direction and even received a crystal ball pick from 247Sports. Then, Auburn came calling. Recruiting insiders at Rivals and On3 are now calling for the Alabama product to stay home and pick the Tigers over the Nittany Lions. This would be another big missed opportunity for Penn State, which had Hall on campus in early June for an official visit.

Campbell is taking big swings at some prospects from SEC country, but has now taken on a few big losses from SEC prowess…and perhaps NIL dollars.

California OT Has Gritty OV

Okay, let’s talk about something positive. Three-star offensive lineman Lucas Rhoa had a bit of a travel nightmare getting back home to California from his official visit to Happy Valley. A drive to Philadelphia and a late-night flight cancellation later, he was home with nothing but good things to say about Penn State, per Rivals.

Four-star DL Elijan Guertin, three-star safety Jonathan Galette, and three-star Texas cornerback Dhillon McGee were among the Class of 2026 prospects to take official visits last weekend.

Four-Star DE Picks PSU

Guertin made the official call for Penn State just two days after his official visit, committing to Campbell’s squad on Sunday. The Rhode Island prospect is a track star and already has a massive frame at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds. He chose the Nittany Lions over Florida and Tennessee.

Khalil Taylor Taking New Visits

Back to the bad news. Four-star wideout Khalil Taylor, who was once committed to Penn State and is still heavily linked to the Nittany Lions, is now entertaining Nebraska. He’s shuffled plans around to make his way to Lincoln this weekend ahead of a July decision date. Ohio State and Georgia are also in the mix.
