The Wisconsin Badgers are putting together a strong recruiting class for the 2027 cycle, getting up to 23 commits after the commitment of three-star edge rusher Brody Pfannenstiel.
That ranks inside the top 20 of the country, and the Badgers have also loaded up at several positions, representing a stark difference from the 2026 class, where Wisconsin took fewer than 15 total commitments.
So, with all the success the Badgers have had in the 2027 class, which position coach has done the best so far?
In our weekly reacts poll, the offensive line was seen as Wisconsin’s best position group in the 2027 class. Wisconsin got off to a strong start in the state, with Ethan McIntosh being the first to commit last year. Since then, four-star Cole Reiter, four-star Hunter Mallinger, three-star Reece Malinger, and three-star Jack Tabbert make up the remainder of the room.
It’s a strong new class for new offensive line coach Eric Mateos, who came over from Arkansas and has quickly become a staple on the road for the Badgers.
For the Badgers to do well, they’re going to need to see success running the ball and getting some more offensive firepower from a team that has struggled to do so under Luke Fickell. Currently, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Badgers as a slight favorite to top their 6.5-win projection.
Wisconsin does have a fairly young offensive line at the moment, with Kevin Heywood, Emerson Mandell, and Ryan Cory all pushing to start. That’s about to get younger and better in 2027.
