Five prospects who have recently committed to Iowa State’s 2027 recruiting class include Shahariam Thurston, Leslie Woodson, De’Marion “DJ” Williams, Ke’Sean Williams and Braylon Lane.

The momentum began when Shaharium Thurston, a three-star cornerback from Arlington, Texas, decided to flip his commitment to the Cyclones. Previously pledged to Colorado State, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound defender chose Iowa State following an official visit to Ames. Rated as one of the top players in Texas, Thurston became the 19th commitment for this recruiting cycle.

Following Thurston, Leslie Woodson joined the class as a standout edge rusher from North Side High School in Indiana. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 228 pounds, Woodson chose the Cyclones after visiting the campus and seeing the program firsthand. He brought a dominant defensive resume to the class, having recorded 60 total tackles and seven sacks during his most recent high school season.

The defensive front was further bolstered by the addition of De’Marion “DJ” Williams. An edge rusher from Clay-Chalkville High School, Williams stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 225 pounds. He is considered one of the highest-rated prospects in the current class, choosing the Cyclones over nearly 20 other offers from various programs.

Iowa State also strengthened its secondary by landing Ke’Sean Williams, a three-star cornerback from Orlando, Florida. Measuring 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Williams is ranked as the No. 121 cornerback nationally. He brings a track record of high-level competition and interest from multiple Power Conference programs.

The recruitment run was highlighted by a flip as Braylon Lane, a three-star wide receiver from Houston’s C.E. King High School, joined the class. Lane had been committed to the Houston Cougars, a fellow Big 12 conference foe, since earlier in the spring.
