The recruiting trail in 2026 takes away as the Colorado Buffaloes saw on Monday, but it also gives plenty to Deion Sanders’ program.
On Tuesday morning, the Buffs saw the positive side of the equation when four-star 2027 defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Colorado.
CU seemed to be trending toward a Shumaker commitment over the weekend when the Mississippi native took a visit to Boulder. He becomes the second player the Buffs have flipped from Ole Miss, joining defensive lineman Coderro McDaniel. He held 22 offers, including ones from Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma and Texas.
247Sports Composite ranks Shumaker as the No. 70 overall prospect, the No. 7 defensive lineman and the No. 2 overall player from Mississippi.

Shumaker becomes Colorado’s highest-ranked class of 2027, surpassing offensive tackle Li’Marcus Jones, safety Gabe Jenkins and quarterback Andre Adams.
Shumaker replaces the recently decommitted Jaiden Lindsay as CU’s 16th commitment in the 2027 class. After the major flip, Colorado’s class ranks No. 46 in the nation and fourth-best in the Big 12.
