Football frenzy: Vote for one of these Gardner-area athletes for Player of the Week

Last week, readers voted Cam Gamache of Gardner boys soccer the final Athlete of the Week of the fall season.

Gamache received 2,200 votes to earn 49.24% of the poll. The senior had an impressive playoff run, scoring both of Gardner’s goals in its 2-1 overtime victory against Hamilton-Wenham in the Round of 16.

Though other fall sports are over for Gardner-area teams, football continues to play, preparing for Thanksgiving. Here are the highlights and nominees for Football Player of the Week from games played on November 14.

Kayleb Fayard, Monty Tech

Fayard scored, catching a 12-yard pass from Jayden Negron in the final minute of the first half against Quabbin.

Austin Holmes, Quabbin

Holmes scored a 55-yard touchdown on a fumble recovery in Quabbin’s 20-6 win against Monty Tech.

Liam Murphy, Murdock

Murphy threw two 60-yard touchdown passes to Gabe Rodriguez to secure Murdock a 12-6 win against Assabet.

Jack Norris, Oakmont

The senior scored a rushing touchdown and ran 111 yards in 14 attempts in Oakmont’s 44-22 win against Gardner.

Brandon Rene, Narragansett

Rene had nine tackles and 2.5 sacks for Narragansett in a 27-21 victory against Lunenburg.

Gabe Rodriguez, Murdock

Rodriguez scored two touchdowns for Murdock, catching passes from quarterback Liam Murphy to defeat Assabet 12-8.

David Roy, Oakmont

The senior quarterback threw for 133 yards on seven attempts for two touchdowns in the Spartans’ 44-22 victory over Gardner. Roy also rushed for 185 yards. He secured three 2-point conversions: two passing and one rushing.

Chase Talbot, Quabbin

Talbot scored on a 60-yard kickoff return to get Quabbin on the board in the Panthers’ 20-6 win against Monty Tech.

Tezarian Tigs, Narragansett

Tigs scored two touchdowns for Narragansett in their 27-21 win over Lunenburg. He ran for 19 yards in the fourth quarter to propel the Warriors past Lunenburg. Earlier in the game, he caught a 55-yard touchdown pass.
