Utah secured its third commitment of the week on Wednesday evening as Corner Canyon lineman Jackson West announced his decision to stay in-state and play for Morgan Scalley.
West, a 6-foot-5, 244-pound three-star, played offensive tackle last season as the Chargers won their third 6A state championship in a row.
He took his official visit to Utah last weekend and wasted no time committing to the Utes, choosing the in-state school over Iowa State.
Though West has experience on the offensive side of the ball, he will likely play on the defensive line instead for Utah, committing as a defensive end.
West’s athleticism stands out. His commitment post shows him doing a backflip at midfield at Rice-Eccles Stadium, and he boasts a 35-and-a-half inch vertical and 4.75-second 40-yard dash time, per his X account.
I had a great final OV at the University of Utah with my parents and younger brother. I was impressed with the coaches and their loyalty to the U. So many reasons to love this program. Go Utes! @CoachNokesDL@Colton_Swan@RSNBUtes@coachdoraz@MasonYellicoUT@Utah_Football… pic.twitter.com/7F2VEKOo34
