Oliver Miller (b. Dec. 13, 2007) is a promising young offensive lineman who has earned substantial praise from the coaching staff after a strong first spring. I expect him to redshirt* but still play and appear on the depth chart.

A two-year starter under head coach Dave Logan at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwich Village, Colorado, Miller was viewed as the 41st-best offensive tackle in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports and No. 47 by Rivals.

247Sports rated him the sixth-best overall prospect in the state of Colorado, while Rivals ranked him No. 8.

Miller earned first-team all-state honors as a senior from from the Colorado High School Activities Association, while he was an honorable mention pick as a junior.

He helped to lead the Bruins to the Colorado state championships as both a junior and senior, and he prepped at the same high school as current K-State offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick and wide receiver Max Lovett.

Miller signed with K-State over scholarship offers from Auburn, Colorado State, Minnesota, NC State, North Texas, Northern Arizona, Purdue, San Diego State, UNLV, Washington State, Wyoming and Yale, as well as interest from Michigan, North Dakota State, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

My conviction that Miller will play this season is based mainly in head coach Collin Klein’s emphatic praise:

Klein’s fastest reply during his news conference arrives when asked which true freshman has impressed him the most in the spring.

“Oliver Miller,” Klein says. … “His versatility — he’s played inside, he’s played right tackle, left tackle, and he should still be in high school. … What he’s putting on the field is incredibly exciting. He has incredibly high standards for himself. He isn’t happy with where he is now, even as a young player, and having that type of drive and motor is impressive.”

Special teams coordinator Stanton Weber has had good early observations of Miller, as well:

With the way college football has gone where you have almost your entire class enrolling, we get a chance in spring to see quite a few guys. I’ve been pleased with seeing a handful step up. … Oliver Miller is a guy who has a great attitude and isn’t looking like a freshman. It’s going to be a really critical time for them to digest this whole spring and then come back in the fall and shake off the I’m-a-freshman type swagger. A lot of us who started as fall-start guys back in my career, you felt like you were drowning until a whole year really passed. With this (early) enrollment thing, I’m encouraged by the fact that these guys may have had a couple moments during the spring where it was, “OK, he’s a freshman,” and they get that out of their system, and it allows us to utilize some much quicker than usual.

*Keep in mind that starting this season, redshirted players can play in up to nine total games and retain their year of eligibility.
