Texas football is overhearing No. 1 NFL Draft pick chatter attached to Arch Manning once again. ESPN draft experts anointed Manning as the 2027 top selection earlier in June. But EA Sports’ College Football ’27 handed him a shockingly low ranking.

Manning is the game’s No. 6 best quarterback before its July release. He earns a 91 overall score, but why is he sitting outside of the top five?

“A dual threat, Manning improved as the year progressed in 2025 and he should be one of the best, if not the best quarterback, this fall. Last year, he threw for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns, seven interceptions, a 61.4% completion percentage, 399 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns,” wrote Nick Kosko of On3/Rivals.

So Manning’s completion percentage likely points to his low ranking. He also endured early season struggles against Ohio State and even UTEP at home. Unranked Florida picked him off twice too before firing head coach Billy Napier.

The No. 1 likely is another surprise for some fans. Oregon dual-threat Dante Moore claims the title, all amid his own Heisman Trophy and draft hype. Moore received a 95 rating, while Big Ten rival from Ohio State Julian Sayin followed him at 94.

Another big stunner is who rose to No. 4: Jayden Maiava of USC, who received a 92 score. He’s tied with CJ Carr of Notre Dame who received a 92 rating too, but Maiava threw more yards while Carr doesn’t have Jeremiyah Love this fall.

Meanwhile, Darian Mensah of Miami trailed Manning at No. 7 despite matching his 91 score. Oklahoma star John Mateer rounded out the top 10 at 10th overall.
