We are starting to get more and more announcements from the folks at EA Sports when it comes to the upcoming release of ‘College Football 27.’ We’ve already been informed that one of the Ohio State stars has the highest rating he can have at launch (for the first time since the game came back two years ago), but before that, the game makers released the rankings of all the teams in the game.

And … as you would expect, Ohio State is ranked highly in the game, and in fact, checks in at No. 2, just behind the Oregon Ducks at No. 1. In addition to that, the Buckeyes have the top-ranked offense in the game and the No. 7 overall defense. I am often impressed by the rankings and ratings EA Sports puts out there, and sometimes I think the folks in Orlando who work on these sorts of things could do better than some of the poll voters we have.

OSU lost a lot on its defense to the NFL draft this past season, but is expected to be able to plug some of those holes with guys that are being developed in the program, in combination with some skill and experience it brought in via the transfer portal. EA Sports’ ranking clearly reflects what many national media outlets believe as well.

Rounding out the top ten of EA Sports College Football 27 behind the Ducks and Bucks is Indiana (3), Notre Dame (4), Texas (5), Miami (FL) (6), LSU (7), Ole Miss (8), Georgia (9), and Oklahoma (10).

‘College Football 27’ is set to be released on July 9 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Early access begins July 2 for MVP Bundle owners and July 6 for players who purchase the Deluxe Edition. We can’t wait.
