It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.

Up next is…

Name: Mateja Pavlovich

Position: Punter

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 220 lbs

Hometown: Hookstown, Pa.

High School/Previous College: South Side

2025 stats: Did not appear in any games and took a redshirt year

2026 projections: Pavlovich will have an opportunity to compete for the kick-off job as he will likely back up Jimmy Gregg at punter. We might see him doing some holding as back in high school, Pavlovich played running back, tight end and linebacker.

How’d he get here?: Pavlovich walked on at Syracuse over interest from West Virginia and Kentucky.

What’d recruiting sites say?: No ranking on any of the major recruitment outlets.

Interesting nugget o’interest: 

Pavlovich’s hometown of Hookstown had 152 residents in the 2020 Census….or slightly more than the number of players and coaches for the Orange.
