The Oklahoma Sooners defensive line has evolved into one of the best in college football. Coming off their best season in 2025, OU lost R Mason Thomas, Gracen Halton, Damonic Williams, and Marvin Jones, Jr. to the NFL. Despite the losses up front, there's still a lot of optimism about what Oklahoma's defensive line could look like.

That's in large part because of David Stone. Stone, who's widely considered a future first-round pick, came in as the No. 1 defensive tackle in EA Sports College Football 27 rankings that were released on Thursday. Stone came in at a 94 overall.

Stone edged out Oregon's A'Mauri Washington, who came in at a 93 overall.

Oklahoma's former five-star is coming off a breakout season in 2025. He led Oklahoma's defensive line in Pro Football Focus' stop metric, which accounts for the down and distance on the defensive play. He finished only behind Kip Lewis and Owen Heinecke in that regard.

Despite facing a number of double teams in 2025, Stone finished fourth on the team in total pressures, tied for second in quarterback hits, and third in hurries.

The expectations for Stone are high in 2026. But the Sooners have the talent around him in Taylor Wein, Jayden Jackson, and an emerging Danny Okoye and Adepoju Adebawore to take some of the pressure off. He'll be one of the main focal points for opposing offensive coordinators.

Stone will anchor a defense that is one of the best in college football.
