On this week's episode of the Buckeye Breakdown Podcast, we get into all of the major stories taking place in Ohio State football this week.
Yes, even at the end of June, there are still major stories to cover off on, and we were all over it for the Buckeyes.
The biggest one of the week is the announcement that Ohio State legend Jim Tressel received the greatest honor that any coach could ever dream of. His name will hang on Ohio Stadium's Ring of Honor for as long as the Buckeyes are playing football.
After 10 years as the Buckeyes' head coach, Tressel put together an incredible 106-22 record before he was escorted out of the program in 2011. He was responsible for the craziest National Championship of all time in 2001 when the Buckeyes took down the Miami Hurricanes in an incredibly unlikely fashion.
Tressel was brought back to campus and was somehow worked into a pretty cool surprise by Ross Bjork and Ryan Day as they and a lot of Tressel's former players were waiting for him in the locker room to show him his honor. It was a moment that was oozing Scarlet and Gray.
Then, the second biggest storyline of the week is the immense investment in the football program. Bjork announced today that Ohio State will be the first football team in America to invest $500M into its football program.
Project No. 1 will be the expansion of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center to improve the meeting areas of the facility.
There is a lot in that facility that needs to be upgraded, but the starting point is the meeting rooms and the coaches' offices.
Bjork and Ohio State are committing over $120M to the facility upgrade, which is to be completed over the next 18 months.
Finally, we dove into the biggest burning question: What position battle are we watching during Fall Camp?
The Buckeyes have about two position battles on offense, and it is at the right guard position and the backup wide receiver spot.
Whoever wins the guard position will be the key to the Buckeyes success early on in the year. Ohio State's success or failure will be written by its offensive line play. If they get high-quality play there, they will make a long run. Winning that spot is a key to that.
Just six weeks away from the start of fall camp and it couldn't get here any sooner.
