We live in a college football world of lists, rankings, and countdowns. Many players on Notre Dame’s roster have been talked about and written about over the last few months — so let’s fall in line.

This will be my official Top 20 Notre Dame Football Players ranking. I will unveil each player, and list the three things I like about them. It seems simple enough, but I have no doubt that some of these ratings will be highly criticized, but you can always share your thoughts in the comments below.

#34 Drayk Bowen LB

Leadership

Drayk Bowen was a captain for the Fighting Irish last year, and there’s no reason to think that he won’t be again in 2026. Bowen is that classic middle linebacker leader of the defense type of baller. While Notre Dame’s defense doesn’t lack for playmakers that use all of their emotion, Drayk has that extra spark inside that makes him better, and his teammates feed off of that.

He takes a pass

Ready for this… Bowen blocked the OFD Twitter account. I have no idea what was said for him to pull the trigger – but I like it. Why? Because it shows the ability to shutout noise. Maybe we said something terrible? Maybe he hates frozen pizza? Maybe he doesn’t get a kick out of posting new commits wearing a different team’s uniform? It doesn’t matter what it was, I envy his ability to lock the hell in and do his job.

Indiana linebacker swoon

As a resident of Ohio (right on the border with Indiana) with a Fort Wayne origin story, I appreciate the impact Hoosier high school linebackers have made at Notre Dame. Jack Kiser and Jaylon Smith are a couple of all-timers, and Drayk Bowen is no different. Maybe it’s something in the Wabash River that makes these kids aggressive and smart, but whatever it is, Bowen plays downhill like a monster and really does a nice job of shedding blockers to make an impact on a lot of plays.
