5-star WR decides among Georgia, Texas A&M and Florida

Five-star wide receiver recruit Eric McFarland has committed to the Texas A&M Aggies, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett. The five-star committed to Texas A&M over the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators, who both remained in the mix for McFarland until the end. 

McFarland is regarded as one of the top wide receivers from the class of 2027. The talented recruit could emerge as a star during his time at Texas A&M next season, as McFarland is an elite route runner with excellent speed and athleticism. McFarland took an official visit to Georgia on May 15, but the highly coveted prospect has ultimately decided that Texas A&M was the better fit. 

McFarland could have played an essential role on the Dawgs’ offense next year if he committed to Georgia. He is ranked as the sixth-ranked WR and the No. 38 player from the 2027 class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. McFarland has been a star at IMG Academy High School and the route runner is ranked as the fourth-best player in Florida. 

Georgia has landed a commitment from a handful of talented receivers from the class of 2027. Four-star WR Jamir Dean recently flipped his commitment from Penn State to UGA, while 3-star WR Taurean Rawlins has committed to Georgia too.
