July has historically been a great recruiting month for the Oregon Ducks, and a handful of 5-star players have been added to the flock this month over the past several years. So on Wednesday, it came as no surprise that Dan Lanning secured a couple of commitments from some of the top players in the nation.

To kick off the fireworks on July 1, four-star athlete Tae Walden announced his commitment to the Ducks. Walden is rated as the No. 56 player and No. 4 ATH in the 2027 class, projected to play either at wide receiver or defensive back. It didn't take long for Oregon to add another elite player, with 5-star cornerback Hayden Stepp announcing his commitment just minutes later.

Stepp stands at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, and is rated as the No. 16 player and No. 3 CB in the class, per ESPN.

With the two blue-chip additions, Oregon — previously ranked No. 6 in the 2027 class rankings — took a big leap up to No. 2 so far this cycle. They currently have 23 commitments so far, and are in line to grab a couple more big fish over the next few days and weeks.

The next big day on the calendar actually comes later this week, with 5-star WR Xavier Sabb scheduled to announce his commitment on Friday morning. The Ducks are considered the favorite to land him, with the LSU Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, and UCLA Bruins also in the mix to land him.
