Auburn football relied on several younger players last season, especially on the defensive side of the football. One of those players is poised to reach "breakout status" in 2026.

Chris Hummer and Matt Zeitz of 247Sports recently shared their picks for college football's breakout players for the 2026 season, which included Auburn linebacker Bryce Deas.

Deas logged 12 tackles as a true freshman, including a season-high four in Auburn's overtime road loss at Vanderbilt, and created eight pressures while rotating at linebacker with Robert Woodyard, Xavier Atkins, Elijah Melendez, and Demarcus Riddick. Three of those four linebackers return to Auburn's unit this season, but Hummer and Zeitz expect Deas to make a name for himself this season.

"He's athletic as hell," a source told 247Sports when mentioning Deas.

Deas signed with Auburn as the No. 27 linebacker from the 2025 class and the No. 12 player from Maryland. Deas is one of six players on Auburn's roster to graduate from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, and was one of three players from the school to sign with Auburn's 2025 recruiting class, joining defensive lineman Darrion Smith and cornerback Blake Woodby.
