After taking down Iowa on Saturday, the USC football team now heads to Eugene this week for an absolutely massive showdown with Oregon. While the networks elected to take a six-day hold on the game last week, we now finally know the kickoff time and television network for the matchup.
USC’s showdown with Oregon will kick off at 12:30 p.m. Pacific time. The game will be televised by CBS.
This will be the second week in a row that the Trojans will play an early afternoon game. On one hand, that may be a bit annoying for fans in attendance. However, the early kickoff time could actually benefit USC this week, as Oregon’s home crowd would likely be even more hostile at night than during the day.
It would be difficult to overstate the stakes of Saturday’s game. With a victory, USC would put itself in great position to make its first ever College Football Playoff appearance. With a loss, however, the Trojans would be eliminated from the Big Ten and playoff races and have nothing but pride and (a slightly better bowl game) to play for in the rivalry matchup with UCLA the following week.
On Sunday, ESPN announced that its iconic College GameDay pregame show will broadcast live from Eugene ahead of the matchup. This will be GameDay‘s first appearance at a USC game in nine years. With the national spotlight on them, the Trojans will have the opportunity to upset Oregon and shock the college football world.
