Oklahoma football has gotten its 2027 class almost full, which means it’s time to think more about the future. That’s what they did with their latest announcement, as four-star quarterback Trey Tagliaferri announced his commitment to the Sooners.

Just two weeks ago, Tagliaferri committed to Notre Dame, but six days later, he decided that the best fit for him was Oklahoma.

In an interview after his visit with the Sooners, Tagliaferri shared why he was considering the program.

“It definitely is a serious consideration for us,” Tagliaferri said via Sooner Scoop. “We just loved the program as a whole. Like I said, everyone seems like a family there, and that’s something I’m looking for. It seems like everyone has great relationships there, and everyone has trust with the coaches. And Coach Kuz, I just loved being around him. The type of guy he is, that’s someone I want to play for. They’re definitely high on my list.”

Tagliaferri ranks as the nation’s No. 19 quarterback and the No. 10 player in New Jersey. He’s known for having a live arm and can make plays comfortably in the pocket. That’s something that Oklahoma liked about his game, which is why they still recruited him, even after he originally committed to Notre Dame.

In his sophomore season, Tagliaferri threw for 2215 yards, 29 touchdowns and three interceptions, while completing 131 of his 211 pass attempts.

Ben Arbuckle has had a good run of quarterbacks that are set to play for the program the next few years. Bowe Bentley was a part of the 2026 class, Jamison Roberts in 2027, and Tagliaferri in 2028.
