How many games will the Oklahoma Sooners win in 2026?

The Oklahoma Sooners are fresh off their second 10-win season under head coach Brent Venables, a sign of progress in a demanding SEC landscape. While there is a lot of optimism, Sooner fans have been here before.
Oklahoma went 10-3 in Year 2 under Venables. There was a lot of excitement for Year 3, including the fact that it was the first year in the SEC. However, the Sooners would have a disastrous season, going 6-7. This would put Venables' job squarely on the line heading into last season.
Also, as a result, optimism in Norman remains cautious rather than confident. That skepticism within the fan base doesn't necessarily align with how some national analysts view the program.
On "That SEC Podcast," hosts Michael "SEC Mike" Bratton and Cousin Shane believe the Sooners will again go 10-2 and return to the College Football Playoff.
"Come on," Bratton said. "Sooners are going to win, 10-2. Best case scenario, that's what I got for the Sooners."
"I like the strength to prevail," Shane said. "So even though it's on the road, give me Oklahoma 10-2. Hello, College Football Playoff, we're back, baby."
If Oklahoma is able to string together back-to-back 10-win seasons and consecutive College Football Playoff appearances, it would firmly establish the program as a legitimate SEC contender.
It would also quiet lingering comparisons to programs that struggled to transition into new conferences, namely the Nebraska Cornhuskers, reinforcing that the Sooners remain one of the sport's elite programs in a new era of college football.
