Elite 2027 5-star OT commits to Texas over Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s future offensive line is all but set in stone after landing commitments from five-star OL’s Mark Matthews and Kennedy Brown, combined with four-star tackles DeMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Kent, who are all on track to compete for starting jobs during their first or second seasons in College Station.

While OL coach Adam Cushing is more than content with this haul, one of the Aggies’ remaining offensive line targets announced his commitment on Saturday. After shutting down his remaining official visits this summer, five-star do-it-all offensive tackle Ismael Camara committed to the Texas Longhorns over LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Ohio State and others, likely putting an end to the Aggies’ pursuit of the blue-chip OL.

As they say, you can’t win ’em all, and after paying a reported $1 million to secure Mark Matthews’ commitment over Miami, coach Mike Elko and Cushing are wholly focused on keeping their four OL commits in the fold going into the 2026 season. It’s important to note that the Aggies led Camara’s recruitment early in the process, but given the Longhorns’ desperate need for a five-star tackle, this decision was not surprising.

While the Aggies will likely continue pursuing Camara, recent intel regarding his positional fit with the Longhorns will dictate his final decision, as the five-star Gilmer (TX) native wants to play either left or right tackle, despite his 6’7″, 340-pound frame. Camara was one of the last remaining five-star prospects who entered the week uncommitted.
