Following No. 21 Iowa football’s (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) crushing 26-21 loss against No. 17 USC (8-2, 6-1 Big Ten), graduate senior captain and center Logan Jones spoke on the defeat to the Trojans from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 15, where he grew emotional while describing how thankful he is to be a part of the Hawkeyes program.
“You know, when you have a game like that’s close, it hurts and we’ve had I feel like every loss this season has just been one that hurts a lot, Jones said. “It’s tough, but you know we got two more games and two more opportunities, one more game in Kinnick (Stadium) for me… “Just playing with these guys… I mean, they’re a special group. This has been the most fun I’ve had, despite the losses, just the most together group I’ve been a part of, honestly.”

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, continued by describing how thankful he is to play under head coach Kirk Ferentz and that he intends to cherish every moment of his final two regular-season games as a Hawkeye.
“I know I’m going to cherish these last two games, especially this one in Kinnick, man, because it’s tough and getting to play for Coach (Ferentz), I can’t explain it and put it into words. He’s the best in the world, and so are our guys. I’m gonna miss it, but take advantage of these next few opportunities.”
Jones has started in 48 of his 49 total games at Iowa, where he has become one of the program’s most impactful players by diagnosing defensive pressures and anchoring an offensive line that is a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award (given to the nation’s top offensive line unit).
As Jones mentioned, the Hawkeyes have one more home game remaining in their final two regular-season contests. That final home game will be on Nov. 22 against Michigan State (3-7, 0-7 Big Ten), airing on the Big Ten Network at 2:30 p.m. CT.
