In a rare mid-summer coaching move, Furman University is nabbing an Atlantic Coast Conference coach to join the Paladins football staff, USA TODAY Sports has learned.
Nasir Greer, who both played for and has been on the Wake Forest coaching staff, is joining the Furman Paladins coaching staff of coach Clay Hendrix, a person with direct knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday, July 7.
A former All-ACC defensive back at Wake Forest who eventually signed with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, Greer had been on the Demon Deacons staff as a defensive quality control coach for Jake Dickert.
Greer will replace Tafon Mainsah, who recently accepted a position at Rice.
Hendrix, entering Year 10 atop the Furman program, sees his Paladins open their 2026 season with one of the earliest games in college football. Furman, an FCS program in the Southern Conference, hosts NCAA Division II program Anderson University Thursday, Aug. 27.
