USA TODAY Sports’ Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams have predicted all 12 teams that will make the College Football Playoff. Toppmeyer and Adams took turns picking teams to make the playoff field on their podcast, “SEC Unfiltered.”

Adams picked the Georgia Bulldogs to make the playoff. Georgia was the fifth team selected after Miami, Notre Dame, Texas and Oregon. The Bulldogs have a manageable schedule and return a lot of talent from the 2025 team that won the SEC championship. Georgia has some questions at wide receiver, but the Bulldogs are stocked with talent at tight end and running back that could help Georgia overcome that.

“Georgia is the safest bet from the SEC,” Toppmeyer said after Adams predicted that Georgia would make the playoff. “This is Georgia’s best squad since 2023, and the schedule breaks nicely.”

Georgia has made the playoff as the SEC champion in back-to-back seasons. The Bulldogs are winless in the 12-team playoff era, but that’s bound to change soon.

The Bulldogs are predicted to be one of four SEC teams to make the field along with LSU, Texas A&M and Texas. Georgia doesn’t have to play any of those other three teams during the regular season, to the Bulldogs are expected to dodge some of the SEC’s most likely playoff teams.

Predicted playoff field

  • ACC: Miami
  • Independent: Notre Dame
  • SEC: Texas, Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M
  • Big Ten: Oregon, Ohio State, Indiana and USC
  • Big 12: Texas Tech
  • Group of Five: Boise State
