As we continue to count down to UW’s first football game of the season, or its first fall practice, or Big Ten Media Days, or a couple of anticipated 2027 commitment announcements, these are your Wednesday Dots.
Football Dots
- In the latest Cover 3 podcast, Bud Elliott talks with Dawgman’s Scott Eklund to preview the 2026 season. They talk about the strengths and questions on both the offense and defense and review the schedule.
- This time John Mills goes for the Steak Diane at El Gaucho.
- ESPN surveyed NFL executives, coaches, and scouts to help rank the top CB’s in the NFL. Former Husky Trent McDuffie comes in at #5 on the list. (Dawgman has more on McDuffie’s ranking.) Another former Husky, Byron Murphy, also received votes.
- Demond Williams is one of the Heisman sleepers for the 2026 season according to Blake Toppmeyer from USA Today.
- In the category of ‘still way too early’, The Sporting News has their bowl projections. They have UW playing Houston in the Alamo Bowl.

UW Athletics Dots
- UW softball’s Ava Carroll was named ‘Player of the First Half’ in the Northwoods League after batting .493 with 37 hits, 7 HR’s, and 34 RBI’s. She also earned an invitation to the league’s all-star game. Three other Huskies will also be in that all-star game: pitcher Ryan Maddox, Marley Teasley, and catcher Ally Hetzel. Ava will be a senior this season for the Huskies.
- UW Men’s Basketball has introduced their Graduate Assistants for this season: Matt Carrion, Isaiah Jones, Nate Krishnan, Trishaunie Lewis, and Cole McWinnie.
