OXFORD — Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin keeps providing fuel for speculation.
Kiffin has emerged as the No. 1 option in the college coaching carousel. LSU wants him. Florida wants him. And Ole Miss fans conveyed their interesting in Kiffin by chanting, “We want Lane,” after the Rebels’ win over Florida on Nov. 15.
On Nov. 18, Kiffin posted a picture from “The Pivot Year,” which is a daily-reading book by Brianna Wiest. It’s common for him to post pictures of what he is reading. The page of the day was especially topical.

“How do you know what to do next?,” the book read in part. “You ask yourself, honestly, what your 90-year-old self would advise you to do. What they would have wished you had done. You ask yourself, honestly, what you’ve sensed from the beginning. What you have ignored, what you have quoted and distracted yourself from.”
The second half of the reading outlined a sound process for making a tough decision.
Kiffin’s family has visited both Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Gainesville, Florida, in the last few days, according to media reports.
“You make two lists, the positives and the negatives and you weigh them,” the book read. “And if there is one thing on the left that overpowers the dozen things on the right, then you trust that. You ask yourself what path will make you more of the person you are meant to be.”
