The Wisconsin Badgers filled the biggest hole in their Athletic Department last week by hiring Texas Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer Shawn Eichorst as their new Athletic Director.

Eichorst carries a lot of ties to the program, having been the Deputy Athletic Director at Wisconsin from 2006-11 before earning Athletic Director jobs with the Miami Hurricanes and Nebraska Cornhuskers. A native of Wisconsin, he now returns with a big shot to bring the school back to being a national power.

When the hire was announced, there was a wide variety of mixed reactions, given the magnitude of the job and Eichorst’s background. He was a candidate well-tied to the program with experience in the role, but that prior experience has also left a sour taste in the mouths of some fans after his failed stint at Nebraska.

Eichorst has had some successful years in the front office at Texas, though, and will look to carry those lessons forward with him back in a familiar place.

What grade would you give for the Eichorst hire? Let us know in our weekly Reacts poll below and share your thoughts in the comments.
