Tennessee projected to play Michigan football in bowl game

No. 20 Tennessee (7-3, 3-3 SEC) has two games remaining in the 2025 regular season. The Vols will play at Florida, while hosting Vanderbilt to conclude regular-season games.

Tennessee has suffered losses to GeorgiaAlabama and Oklahoma this season. The Vols have recorded wins against Syracuse, East Tennessee State, UAB, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Kentucky and New Mexico State.

Ahead of Tennessee playing at Florida on Saturday in Week 13, Erick Smith of USA TODAY released updated bowl projections. The Vols are projected to face Michigan in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 31 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST and will be televised by ABC.

The Vols and Wolverines have played one time previously. Tennessee defeated Michigan, 45-17, in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2002.

Tennessee also played in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2024, defeating Iowa, 35-0.
