2027 Chicago linebacker, Tennessee target announces commitment date

Four-star linebacker Roman Igwebuike will announce his commitment decision between Tennessee, Notre Dame, Missouri, Clemson and Indiana on Saturday, according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect is from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 12 linebacker in the class and No. 8 player in Illinois.

Tennessee offered Igwebuike a scholarship on March 13, 2025. He officially visited the Vols on June 19.

Illinois was the first school to offer the 2027 prospect a scholarship on Jan. 10, 2025. Other Power Four schools to offer him scholarships include Iowa State, Syracuse, Purdue, Louisville, USC, Minnesota, Kansas State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan State, Arizona State, Oregon, Miami, Kansas, Iowa, Boston College, North Carolina, Texas, Ole Miss, Washington, Florida State, North Carolina State, Maryland, Arkansas, West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Florida, Georgia Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Georgia, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.

Tennessee has 16 commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, defensive back Carter Jamison and defensive back Brandon Leavell, tight end Malik Howard, defensive lineman Christian Mays, cornerback Dylan Haley, linebacker Kenneth Simon II, kicker Ford Fehling, long snapper Sam McKeown, offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson, athlete Dayon Cooper, and safety Marcus Jones.
