Odds continue to trend in Wisconsin’s way ahead of Week 13 vs. Illinois

The Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the Illinois Fighting Illini in their final home game of the season on Saturday, with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.

Wisconsin opened as 9.5-point underdogs, but the odds are trending in the Badgers’ favor as that line has already dropped to 7.5 points ahead of Saturday’s game, according to ESPN BET.

That’s a lower line than what the Badgers had against the Washington Huskies at home two weeks ago, as Wisconsin closed as 10.5-point underdogs before pulling off the big upset.

The Badgers will need their defense to be as dominant as ever if they want to pull off the upset, as Illinois has scored less than 24 points only twice this season. That came against now-No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin hasn’t scored at least 24 points since Week 2, when it played Middle Tennessee. They’ve failed to break the teens in the last eight games, so the defense will have to find a way to limit Illinois in this one.

The Fighting Illini are coming off back-to-back wins over Maryland and Rutgers, improving their record to 7-3 on the year. They’re looking at a second straight season of 9+ wins and a finish in the Top 25, so this game definitely means something on both sides.

Right now, it seems like the odds are trending in Wisconsin’s way with the spread continuing to be lower. We’ll see if that trend continues ahead of game time.
