Four-star Georgia Bulldogs quarterback commit Colton Nussmeier has has his appeal to play his senior season denied after losing a 4-1 vote. Nussmeier is ineligible to play during his senior season at Ryan High School in Denton, Texas.

The quarterback recently transferred from Flower Mound Marcus High School to Ryan, and Nussmeier will be unable to compete during his final season at Ryan after losing his appeal. Nussmeier's appeal was denied because it was ruled that Nussmeier was transferring for athletic reasons. We expect the four-star to look elsewhere with less strict transfer rules, so he can play during his senior season.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound quarterback is the younger brother of former LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The signal caller is one of Georgia's best commitments from the class of 2027 recruiting cycle. Nussmeier has been committed to Georgia since June 5.

Being unable to compete during his senior year would be detrimental for Nussmeier's development, so we expect him to transfer to another high school.

Nussmeier is the No. 12 quarterback and the No. 199 recruit in the class of 2027, per the 247Sports rankings. The recruit is the No. 34 prospect from Texas. The decision to rule Nussmeier ineligible was made on a 3-3 vote at a district executive county meeting. His appeal was denied along with that of five-star Texas cornerback commitment John Meredith.

Ryan is one of the top high school football programs in Texas, so Nussmeier being ineligible is a big loss for their program.
