Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Isaiah Sategna emerged as one of the biggest surprises on the team's offense last season. After totaling just 54 receptions for 632 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons at Arkansas, Sategna found another level in Norman.
In his first season with the Sooners, he broke out with 67 catches for 965 yards and eight touchdowns. Sategna quickly became Oklahoma's most reliable receiving threat, routinely delivering when the offense needed a big play.
Two of his biggest plays came in arguably the two most important games. After crucial wins on the road against the Tennessee Volunteers and the Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma just needed to hold serve at home to make the College Football Playoff. That first game was against the Missouri Tigers. The offense was struggling early in that game before Sategna broke away for an 87-yard touchdown to give the Sooners a 7-3 lead in the second quarter. Oklahoma would win the game 17-6.
The Sooners then found themselves trailing 13-10 to the LSU Tigers with under five minutes to play. Sategna hauled in a 58-yard touchdown pass on a busted coverage to give the Sooners a 17-13 win. Since he was so crucial to the success, it was important to keep him in Norman for one more season. He detailed why he decided to play one more season at Oklahoma.
❝This is the place I needed to be❞

"This was the place that I needed to be in life," Sategna said. "I felt like I had unfinished work here. You know, after that last 'Bama game, I had a big decision on my hands. First, I did a lot of praying, and God told me, really, to just come back and just be loyal. I just had some left on the plate."
Sategna's decision to return gives Oklahoma continuity at one of its most important positions. With another offseason in offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle's system and an established chemistry with quarterback John Mateer, the Sooners will once again lean on Sategna to make game-changing plays. If his 2025 campaign was any indication, he has the ability to become one of the SEC's premier receivers in 2026.
