Four-Star South Pointe (Rock Hill) defensive tackle, Seth Tillman, chose Clemson over offers from Georgia, Michigan, and South Carolina.
Tillman is the #3 player in South Carolina and the #127 player nationally based on the 247 Composite. He posted 8.5 sacks and 27 tackles for loss in 13 games as a junior last season after posting 15.5 sacks with 25 tackles for loss in 14 games as a sophomore.
He primarily lines up at defensive end, but his junior film also showcases his ability to slide inside and create disruption along the interior. His run-stuffing ability stands out as one of his biggest strengths, consistently setting the edge, pushing offensive linemen backward, and clogging running lanes. At 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, he possesses an impressive blend of size, strength, and athleticism.
Tillman fills a key need in what was already an otherwise strong class that ranked 15th prior to his commitment. The Tigers had just one other defensive tackle in the 2027 class — 3-star Jaden Wuerth. In Clemson’s 2026 class, 3-star Kam Cody was the only defensive tackle. The year prior, 3-star Makhi Williams Lee and 5-star Amare Adams were the two additions. The former didn’t play while the latter struggled in his opportunities last year as a true freshman. Seth Tillman is exactly what Clemson needed.
Tillman also gives this class an in-state flavor they haven’t tasted recently. The Clemson Tigers now have three of the top 12 football players in the state of South Carolina for 2027. Seth Tillman ranks 3rd, WR Trey Wimbley ranks 6th, and DT Jaden Wuerth ranks 12th. A little further down, Clemson’s fourth in-state prospect, CB Christian Chancellor Jr. ranks 20th. This may seem par for the course, but it simply hasn’t been the case in recent years. Clemson only had one player (Polo Anderson) in the state’s top 20 last year and just six combined over the three seasons prior to that. Tyler Brown from the 2023 class is the last South Carolina recruit to have a major positive impact for the Tigers. In classes prior to him, there were many more, but in recent years the Palmetto State hadn’t been as kind to the Tigers — until now.
