Matt Barrie Names College Football Program No One Wants to Play Right Now

The 2025 college football regular season is coming to a close, as there are only two weekends remaining. Once again, the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (9-1) appear to be hitting their stride.

Georgia is enjoying a strong finish to the season. The Bulldogs have played four ranked teams this year, winning three of those matchups. Their recent highlights include a commanding 35-10 victory over the then-No. 10 Texas Longhorns this past Saturday, as well as a close 43-35 win against the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels earlier in the season.

On “The Matt Barrie Show,” the “SportsCenter” anchor stated that he believes no team in the country would want to play against Georgia right now.

“There is no other team in the country that finds a way to round into championship form at the end of the season, more than the Georgia Bulldogs,” Barrie said. “Gunner Stockton accounted for five touchdowns (Saturday). Kirby with the great quote afterwards, ‘Some people come to get the check, but if you come to get the check but don’t hit here, you’re not going to play here.’ I would want nothing to do with the Georgia Bulldogs. “

The Bulldogs have been impressive over the past two weekends, defeating Texas and the Mississippi State Bulldogs with a combined score of 76-31. Quarterback Gunner Stockton has been performing exceptionally well. This season, he has thrown for 2,269 yards, 19 touchdowns, and three interceptions, while also rushing for 350 yards and scoring eight touchdowns. In the last two games alone, he has thrown for 493 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception.

As the postseason picture sharpens, Georgia appears to be hitting championship stride yet again, and if the Bulldogs keep building behind Stockton’s breakout stretch, they may enter December as the most dangerous contender in college football.

Georgia will take on the Charlotte 49ers (1-9) on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
