Alabama Crimson Tide Could Flip 4-Star WR From ACC School

The Alabama Crimson Tide have not exactly put together a stellar recruiting class for 2027. Alabama has landed 13 players for the class and currently ranks 51st in the country, which is something to which Crimson Tide fans are not accustomed.

Alabama has posted top-five recruiting classes 19 years in a row, so the fact that it might not even finish close to the top 25 for 2027 is mind-boggling.

There is still time for the Crimson Tide to make some headway, though, and they are currently waiting on five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales, who is scheduled to announce his commitment decision on July 17.

The problem? Sales is not expected to pick 'Bama, which would be a crushing blow to a Tide program that has only bagged one receiver for 2027 thus far: four-star talent Osani Gayles.

So what if Sales does spurn Alabama? Then what? Will the Crimson Tide throw in the towel on the position? Or will they try to make a push elsewhere?

Well, one potential option for Kalen DeBoer and Co. is four-star prospect Ja'Hyde Brown, who committed to Louisville back in March.

Hyde is still actively being recruited, and until he actually signs with the Cardinals, he is fair game. Alabama expressed serious interest in Brown before, so I see no reason why the Crimson Tide wouldn't pursue him again.

Brown initially picked up an offer from Alabama in June 2025 and visited the school multiple times last fall. He collected 24 offers in total before committing, which included programs such as Auburn, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

Right now, 'Bama is focused on Sales, who is the second-ranked receiver and the eighth-ranked player overall in his class, via 247 Sports' composite rankings. But Brown has also risen significantly, going from the 252nd-ranked overall prospect to No. 66, per Rivals.

The 5-foot-10, 186-pound burner hails from Louisville, so he picked his hometown school as his recruiting choice. But there is still time to flip him.

Brown hauled in 98 receptions for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns at Christian Academy of Louisville last season.

Should Alabama miss out on Sales, it could very well turn its attention back to Brown, who would certainly be a fantastic addition.
