Michigan football is sitting at 8-2 on the season after walking off a win at Northwestern this past weekend, and even though it had to overcome quite a bit of turmoil — albeit most all of it was self-inflicted.

Now that the expanded College Football Playoff is essentially all that matters, where the Wolverines are ranked entering the penultimate regular season weekend matters, as the maize and blue don't want to be on the outside looking in. But, as the College Football Playoff rankings committee released its fourth-to-last top 25, Michigan didn't budge an inch, still ranked 18th, just like last week. However, with No. 1 Ohio State looming, win that game, and the Wolverines should jump into the top 12.
