The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 53 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the past and present of No. 53 at LSU:
No. 53 – OL Hayes Fuqua
This will be Fuqua's second year on the team as a walk-on offensive lineman. Per his team profile, he was a defensive lineman for West Monroe in high school and switched to the offensive line as a senior, where he excelled immediately. It would be a shock to see him with meaningful snaps for now, but bodies in the offensive line room are important.
While walk-ons don't get the most shine, they are important in getting the team prepared to play week-in and week-out. Some walk-ons also earn their way to a scholarship with hard work and dedication.
Highlighting A Former Player Who Wore No. 53
OL T-Bob Hebert (2007-2011)
Hebert was Louisiana football royalty from the moment he was born, as his father Bobby Hebert was the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints in the late 80s and early 90s. T-Bob went on to make a name for himself, though, and is now a top sports personality in the country.
As a player, Hebert played a lot of football for the Tigers. He played all over the line, but is mostly known as a center. He went undrafted before signing with the St. Louis Rams, but never really made it in the NFL.
After his playing days, he went on to host one of the top sports radio shows in Baton Rouge with Jacob Hester on "Off the Bench." Now he works for Barstool Sports and is a host on Fox Sports 1's "Wake Up Barstool."

Les Miles was not afraid to get risky at the end of games. Here in a tightly-contested matchup between the No. 12 and No. 14 teams in the country, LSU had a chance to tie the game with a 53-yard field goal with 35 second left. Miles instead opts to go for the fake and converts it for a first down. It was a controversial play that was reviewed, but Josh Jasper made it. A few plays later, Jarrett Lee found Terrence Toliver for a touchdown to win it.
