Penn State's stud running back duo of Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton will have a chance to truly leave their marks on the Nittany Lion record books in the coming weeks.
Allen, who has taken over as the lead back this season, is now third in program history with 3,794 yards rushing. He's just 49 yards behind Saquon Barkley for second place and 138 yards short of Evan Royster's all time record. If Allen can average 69 yards rushing across Penn State's final two games of the regular season, he'll have the record. If Penn State qualifies for a bowl game and Allen plays, then he would only need about 46 yards per game.
Nicholas Singleton is currently fifth in career rushing for Penn State with 3,331 yards. He's only 67 yards behind Curt Warner for fourth place, but that will likely be as high as he goes unless he puts up otherworldly numbers down the stretch. However, Singleton does have a great chance to break Barkley's career rushing and scrimmage touchdown records.
Singleton has 41 career rushing touchdowns, which is two short of matching Barkley's 43 rushing touchdowns. Singleton also has 51 touchdowns from scrimmage in his career (41 rushing, 9 receiving and one return), which is two fewer than Barkley's 53 scrimmage touchdowns (43 rushing, 8 receiving and two returns).
While this season will be remembered as a disappointment for Penn State, Allen's and Singleton will have the opportunity to cement themselves as arguably the program's best running back duo over the final 2-3 games.
