After being the voice of Kinnick Stadium for Iowa football over the past 26 years, iconic public address announcer Mark Abbott will call his final game Saturday when the Hawkeyes (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) host the Michigan State Spartans (3-7, 0-7 Big Ten).

In his Tuesday media availability, Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz spoke about the news, honoring Abbott’s tremendous career and wishing him and his wife all the best moving forward.

“I want to salute Mark Abbott, stepping aside after 26 years. And he had to follow a legend, too, Father Bob. I don’t know how long Father Bob did it, but just a great voice in Kinnick, and Mark’s done a great job likewise. I want to wish he and Mary Jo all the best as they pull back out of that room,” Ferentz said.

Abbott has been a part of many special moments inside Kinnick Stadium throughout his stint as the Hawkeyes’ PA. Iowa will look to send him out a winner one final time on Saturday when the Hawkeyes welcome in Michigan State for Senior Day.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT with the game broadcast on FS1.
