Where Auburn football falls in The Athletic's 'SEC Vibes' rankings ahead of Week 13

Auburn football may have taken its second bye week of the season in Week 12, but the spirits around the program remain at a comfortable level.

Seth Emerson of The Athletic updated his weekly SEC Vibes ranking, where he keeps Auburn at the No. 11 spot ahead of Week 13's game with Mercer at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Emerson gave Auburn a bump in Week 11 despite losing to Vanderbilt on the road due to the Tigers' encouraging effort in Nashville. This week, Emerson credits Alabama's loss to Oklahoma and an exciting coaching search for keeping Auburn's spirit high heading into this week's action.

The Tigers watched their rival lose, and their fans have the open coaching job to happily speculate about. It’s not the best of times, but not the worst.

South Carolina is at the bottom of the vibes check this week after surrendering 24 unanswered second-half points to Texas A&M in a 31-30 loss, and Georgia is at the top after earning a big win at home over Texas, and is peaking at the right time. Oklahoma made the largest jump, moving from No. 7 to No. 2 after beating Alabama on the road, and is becoming another threat in the College Football Playoff hunt.

Auburn will look to improve its vibes this week at home against Mercer. Auburn faces Mercer Saturday at 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
