Texas A&M's senior safety didn't have a perception of Texas A&M before arriving on campus in 2024, but he quickly fell in love with representing the Aggies and being in College Station since transferring from San Diego State.

Alongside quarterback Marcel Reed and linebacker Daymion Sanford, starting safety Marcus Ratcliffe represented the Maroon and White at the 2026 SEC Media Days in Tampa, Florida, on Wednesday afternoon. During his time with the media, Ratcliffe was asked about his perception of the program before transferring from the Aztecs.

While he didn't know much about the program or the location at the time, Ratcliffe expressed his love for Texas A&M and the 12th Man's support.

Entering his third season with Texas A&M, Ratcliffe has appeared in 38 games and made 35 starts, racking up 163 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, four quarterback hurries and one blocked kick. His production and experience provide the Aggie defense with a significant boost in 2026, after Texas A&M lost multiple veterans to the 2026 NFL Draft. Ratcliffe has posted 30 games with three-plus tackles and 18 contests with five-plus tackles.

Alongside teammates Dezz Ricks and Tennessee transfer Rickey Gibson III, Ratcliffe will be one of the anchors for Mike Elko's secondary this season, as the Aggies look to reach the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive season.

Ratcliffe, Reed, Sanford and Elko all expressed that the team is aiming to sweep the dust off the trophy case and add some new hardware in 2026. To do so, it will take veterans like the 6-foot-2 California native to take charge and set the tone against one of the nation's toughest schedules.
