What UNC football game are you most excited for in 2026?

While it’s probably still quite hot and summer-y wherever you are, we aren’t that far from the start of the college football. The North Carolina Tar Heels’ season will begin in just a little over a month, when they take on TCU in Dublin, Ireland.

Last year, infamously, things did not go as planned for UNC. In Bill Belichick’s first season in college, the Tar Heels produced a 4-8 record and some pretty bad losses. It’s certainly understandable if that bad a season has you a little bit checked out for 2026. On some level, I feel that way. However, when it starts to cool down slightly and the excitement for the college football season in general builds up, my interest in UNC’s year will as well.

With that in mind, for today’s question of the day, I want to know: which game are you most excited about in the 2026 UNC football season?

For a couple different reasons, I’m most excited about the season opener against TCU. For one, there’s the novelty factor of it being played in Dublin. This is not the first-ever college football game that’s going to be played over there, so it’s not a complete unknown, but it’ll be interesting to see UNC in that spot.

However, the other reason is probably just that it’s first on the year. There’s always some amount of mystery going into a new season. I can’t say I’m expecting an excellent year out of the 2026 Tar Heels, but if they come out and punch the Horned Frogs in the mouth, it would do so much to change mine and a lot of others’ optimism for the season.

Concurrently, if they come out and get crushed, much as they did in last year’s TCU game, it could be a sign to cut bait early on the season. Not that I’d ever be able to fully tune out the Tar Heels, but a bad loss might warn me to keep the remote handy for fall Saturdays.

That’s my answer, but what about you? What game on the schedule are you most excited for this year?
