Latest injury update on Georgia All-SEC offensive lineman

The Georgia Bulldogs are hoping to return All-SEC center Drew Bobo in time for the 2026 college football season. Bobo attended SEC media days along with coach Kirby Smart, quarterback Gunner Stockton and linebacker Raylen Wilson.

Bobo is optimistic that he can return from injury for Georgia's season opener against the Tennessee State Tigers on Sept. 5. Bobo left the Georgia Tech game last season with a Lisfranc injury and a broken bone in his foot. The veteran center missed Georgia's SEC championship win against Alabama and the Bulldogs' Sugar Bowl defeat to Ole Miss. Bobo was also out for Georgia's spring practice.

"I'm really not sure what coach Smart and the trainers' plan is, but I know that they've progressed me really well during the spring," Bobo said in an updated on his recovery progress. "I got back into running then and then doing things during summer camp… kind of a slow progression, too. But just trying to get into doing everything. And I've been able to do everything during the summer. So I'm hoping to be able to be full go whenever the season starts."

Georgia should try to be careful with Bobo. The Bulldogs don't face a Power Four opponent until Week 3 in Georgia's SEC opener against Arkansas. Georgia does not want to lose Bobo's experience and leadership in the middle like it did last season. The Bulldogs are a better team with a healthy Bobo.

Bobo is hoping to become even more of a leader in 2026. The Bulldogs will count on Bobo to provide vocal leadership with Stockton using more of a soft-spoken, lead-by-example style.

"One of my main individual goals is just to become better as a leader," Bobo said at SEC media days. "As the season goes on, as we go into camp, I just want to become a better leader so I can help accomplish those team goals."
