OXFORD − Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin was insistent Nov. 19 that he expects to coach the Rebels in the Egg Bowl.

Kiffin continues to be the center of the college football rumor mill. As he finalizes a stellar sixth season at Ole Miss, both Florida and LSU have emerged as schools attempting to hire him away from Oxford.

There have been reports that if Kiffin were to tell Ole Miss (10-1, 6-1 SEC) he is leaving he wouldn’t coach against Mississippi State on Nov. 28 (11 a.m., ABC).

Kiffin spoke about the job rumors on the weekly SEC teleconference. He said he didn’t understand the question when asked if he will coach against the Bulldogs.

“Of course I’m coaching (the Egg Bowl),” Kiffin said. “I mean, unless you guys know something I don’t.”

Ole Miss has an outside shot at making the SEC Championship game and is in good position to make the CFP. Is there any situation Kiffin would not be coaching Ole Miss beyond the Egg Bowl?

“We’re game planning,” Kiffin said. “We just practiced. I don’t even understand how that would happen. I must be missing something.”

Is there a possibility he could take another job before the postseason?

“I’m not speaking on other jobs,” Kiffin said.

No. 6 Ole Miss is on an off week before the Egg Bowl.

Has Lane Kiffin spoken to Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry about LSU job?

Kiffin was asked about conflicting reports regarding if he had talked with Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry about the LSU job. Kiffin declined to answer.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t comment on that either way,” Kiffin said.

Did Lane Kiffin’s family visit Florida, LSU?

There have been reports that members of Kiffin’s family visited LSU and Florida over Ole Miss’ open week. Kiffin was asked what they learned on the visits that may help inform his decision.

“I’m not getting in on any speculation or stories of things having to do with other jobs,” Kiffin said. “I’ve said that about 10 times. But I understand, you’ve got to ask them.”
