Raymond James Stadium set to host a high-profile SEC matchup

One of college football's biggest rivalry games is headed to the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to a post on X from Brett McMurphy, the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry will temporarily move away from Jacksonville over the next two seasons. The 2026 matchup is expected to be played in Atlanta, while the 2027 edition will take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The annual rivalry has been played in Jacksonville for decades and is one of the premier neutral-site games in college football. The temporary relocation comes as EverBank Stadium undergoes renovations, forcing the schools to find alternate venues until the project is complete.

For Tampa Bay, landing the 2027 matchup is another major event for Raymond James Stadium, which has hosted Super Bowls, College Football Playoff games, the ReliaQuest Bowl, and numerous marquee college football contests over the years.

The Georgia-Florida rivalry routinely draws one of the largest television audiences of the college football season, and its arrival in Tampa is expected to bring a significant economic impact to the area. Fans from both fan bases have traditionally traveled well, making it one of the sport's premier destination games.

While Buccaneers fans won't see Tampa Bay take the field that day, Raymond James Stadium will once again serve as the stage for one of football's biggest annual events when Georgia and Florida meet in 2027.
