Colorado football announces fall camp plans for 2026 season

The college football season is just around the corner, which means Colorado is about to open up its fall camp.

In a press release on Monday, the university announced it will begin camp at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Fountain-Fort Carson High School on Sunday, Aug. 2.

The Buffaloes will spend a week off campus and return to Boulder on Saturday, Aug. 8. Practices will be closed to the public.

"When I first got here, Coach Prime and his staff actually came to me and spoke a little bit about wanting to go somewhere for training camp," Colorado athletic director Fernando Lovo said. "When you talk about building that brotherhood and that trust, I think that's a big part of it. We explored a couple of different options, and I give all the credit to our football staff. They identified Colorado Springs, which is obviously big for us. We have a big footprint down there."

After struggling with player leadership and chemistry last year, the team's recent actions, including a leadership retreat this offseason, reflect Sanders' aim for a more cohesive unit as they head into the new season.

CU spent training camp two years ago off campus with an open practice at Denver's All-City Stadium.

Colorado is entering its fourth season with Deion Sanders at the helm, hoping to rebound after a 3-9 2025 season. The Buffaloes open the year on Sept. 3 with a challenging road matchup against Georgia Tech.
