The Oklahoma Sooners’ win over Alabama has had huge repercussions. It pushed the Sooners into the top 8 of the College Football Playoff rankings, and OU received a 2027 commitment on Tuesday with a pledge from cornerback Mikyal Davis.

Brent Venables, the Oklahoma coaching staff, and the front office staff have used the momentum of Oklahoma’s success in recent weeks to create more momentum on the recruiting trail.

On Wednesday, the Sooners received recruiting predictions for a pair of 2026 four-star prospects and another talented 2027 target.

With the 2026 early signing period a couple of weeks away, the Sooners are trending for four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit and four-star running back Messiah Mickens.

Petit has been committed to Wisconsin since August, but the Sooners have been in pursuit of the talented wide receiver out of Naples, Fla. Steve Wiltfong, vice president of recruiting and transfer portal, predicted Oklahoma to flip Petit from the Badgers. Petit is the No. 13 wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

Oklahoma is loading up on wide receivers in the 2026 cycle. They have wideouts committed currently in Daniel Odom, Jahsiear Rogers, Xavier Okwufulueze, and Brayden Allen. That foursome with Petit would provide the Sooners with a lot of young competition at wide receiver in the coming years.

Wiltfong also predicted Oklahoma to flip Mickens. Mickens has been committed to Penn State, but it looks like he’s trending toward the Oklahoma Sooners ahead of the early signing period. Mickens is the No. 14 running back in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. In addition to Oklahoma and Penn State, he holds offers from Indiana, Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC.

The only running back the Sooners have committed in 2026 is DeZephen Walker. With Jaydn Ott and Jovantae Barnes set to leave after this year, the Sooners are in need of some depth at running back.

The other player that was projected to land with the Oklahoma Sooners is 2027 four-star cornerback Juju Johnson from Long Beach Poly High School. Max Torres, who covers Oregon football for Rivals, predicted Johnson to the Sooners on Wednesday. Johnson is the No. 11 cornerback in the class, according to 247Sports, and is a top 10 cornerback in the 247Sports composite.

He’s scheduled his commitment for December 1 and holds offers from Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, USC, and Utah.

Brent Venables and his staff have done a great job on the recruiting trail and have taken advantage of the results they’ve earned on the field. If Oklahoma can carry that momentum over the next couple of Saturdays they’ll finish the 2026 recruiting cycle strong and be set for a great 2027 recruiting class.
