10 Oklahoma Sooners Selected For Preseason All-SEC Teams

The SEC released its preseason media awards on Friday, and ten Oklahoma players made the list.
Redshirt senior kicker Tate Sandell and long snapper Ben Anderson earned first-team honors. Sandell was recognized as both the placekicker and kickoff specialist.
On the second team, we had redshirt senior linebacker Kip Lewis, redshirt senior punter Grayson Miller, redshirt senior wide receiver Isaiah Sategna III, senior defensive back Peyton Bowen, redshirt junior defensive lineman Taylor Wein, junior defensive back Eli Bowen, junior defensive lineman David Stone, and sophomore offensive lineman Michael Fasusi. Sategna picked up second-team nods at both wide receiver and return specialist.
Overall, the Sooners were picked to finish 7th in the preseason media poll. That’s the highest projection Oklahoma has gotten since joining the conference. It still feels a little low after the way last season ended.
Tate Sandell had one of the best seasons a kicker has ever had in 2025. He won the Lou Groza Award, was a first-team All-American, and set or tied a bunch of school, conference, and FBS records. The guy was automatic.
Ben Anderson has been rock solid at long snapper for three years now and continues to get the recognition he deserves.
On the defensive side, Kip Lewis has been a tackling machine and a leader for a couple of years. Taylor Wein broke out in a big way last season with big numbers in tackles for loss and sacks. David Stone, Eli Bowen, and Peyton Bowen all bring experience and playmaking ability to the defense. These guys were a big reason Oklahoma made the playoff last year, and having them back is huge.
Isaiah Sategna III should continue to be one of the best receivers in the league. He had a strong first year in Norman and should only get better with Mateer healthy and more weapons around him.
Michael Fasusi was a true freshman All-American at left tackle last year, which is impressive. The offensive line as a group should be improved with another year of experience.
This recognition feels a little light for OU to only have two first-team selections, and it be the kicker and long snapper. Courtland Guillory was also noticeably absent after a fantastic freshman season.
The SEC is loaded again this year, and Oklahoma has another tough schedule. While the talent is better than advertised, the end of the year All-SEC teams should look a lot different with more Sooners recognized than where they stand currently.
