Florida State reaching out to elite 2028 TE

2028 four-star tight end JC Wessel started his high school career at Frederica Academy in Saint Simons Island, Georgia. However, he transferred before his junior campaign to the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Wessel made the move to Florida due to not getting a ton of exposure in Southeast Georgia. It has shined a bigger light on him in terms of the recruiting scene. Programs have already begun pursuing him heavily, including Florida State.

"Miami, Florida, they text and reach out a lot," Wessel said via 247Sports. "Alabama, Florida State — like, all those schools. Louisville — like, they all reach out a ton to me through text."

Wessel is the No. 131 player in the country and the No. 5 tight end in the 247Sports composite rankings. They also have him listed as the No. 18 prospect in the state of Florida.

The 6-foot-6, 235-pounder contributed 18 receptions for 338 yards and three touchdowns last season. He also racked up 16 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack on defense.

Wessel camped with and received offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, and the Texas Longhorns this summer. He's visited the Miami Hurricanes, and he plans to attend their game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in November. Also, he's visited the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Tallahassee is familiar to Wessel as well. He was on campus for a Junior Day event back in January and left with an offer from the Seminoles. Back in April, Wessel returned during their spring program.

A decision from Wessel isn't expected until next May. This gives Florida State time to establish a strong relationship with him and get another visit during the season.
