For months, speculation surrounding Easton Royal's college decision mounted. He committed to Texas in November 2025 but never seemed to keep the door shut to other opportunities. LSU football remained hot on his trail and seems to have gained momentum.

Rivals gives LSU an 86% chance to flip Royal back to his home state. LSU is considered the favorite to land the five-star wideout. When Lane Kiffin took the job in Baton Rouge, he made Royal a priority, paying him visits at Brother Martin High School and inviting him to campus three times in the spring.

Royal hails from New Orleans and chose the Longhorns days before Kiffin's hiring became official. Rivals' Industry Rankings lists him as Louisiana's best player and the top wide receiver in the 2027 cycle. He is the No. 5 player in the nation.

Rivals' Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for the Tigers to complete the flip and gain the commitment of Royal. It remains to be seen how he plans to either affirm his pledge to Texas or announce he's staying home. Should he choose LSU, the purple and gold would fly up the class rankings. It currently ranks No. 10 nationally and No. 5 in the SEC.

The Rivals Prediction Machine can be wrong, but LSU sitting at 86%, paired with Wiltfong's prediction, bodes well for LSU's chances. It's rare for LSU to let the top recruit in Louisiana leave the state.
